About the Registry
The American College of Cardiology-National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR®) now offers a new registry to improve safety and outcomes for patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI). This initiative combines the data collection and quality reporting features of two existing national ACS registries to create the largest and most comprehensive national cardiovascular patient database. The ACTION Registry® - GWTG™ (Acute Coronary Treatment and Intervention Outcomes Network) establishes a national standard for understanding treatment patterns, clinical outcomes, drug safety, and the overall quality of care for AMI patients.

The overall purpose of the ACTION Registry® - GWTG™ is to measure clinically-relevant quality indicators in the treatment of patients with STEMI and NSTEMI, and to promote quality improvement nationally.

Beginning January 1, 2007, the National Registry for Myocardial Infarction (NRMI) and CRUSADE (Can Rapid Risk Stratification of Unstable Angina Patients Suppress Adverse Outcomes with Early Implementation of the ACC/AHA Guidelines) registries joined forces with the NCDR® to launch the ACTION Registry® - GWTG™. Over the past ten years, more than 1,700 US hospitals have participated in one or more separate ACS-based quality improvement efforts led by NRMI, CRUSADE, and the NCDR®. Now we have a new merger with the American Heart Association, further expanding and progressing our goals for quality improvement.
