NCDR® provides registry database specifications to software vendors who are interested in developing an ICD Registry software package. NCDR reviews each software application to verify it meets the strict data collection standards and export requirements as defined by NCDR, and certifies only those software vendors that meet its rigorous quality standards. These contracted, certified vendors are the exclusive providers of software that allows institutions to participate in the ICD Registry.
When an ICD Registry participant purchases software from a certified vendor, the vendor installs it for the participant. The participating facility then uses that software to submit its data to the NCDR on a quarterly basis. Many of the vendors’ software application do much more than collect and export ICD Registry data. For this reason, each participant should consider their own software requirements when reviewing the vendor information.
However, participants of the ICD Registry may instead choose free access to the NCDR Web-based data collection tool for this registry. Use of this tool, and any updated version, does not involve using a software vendor, and will help hospitals collect the most essential data for internal reporting.
Applications for ICD Registry vendor certification:
If you are interested in becoming a certified software vendor for the ICD Registry, please contact
ncdr@acc.org or call 1-800-257-4737.
As an aid to our participants, the NCDR has provided a brief description of each vendor in the chart below, as well as a summary of their product information. This information, listed in alphabetical order, has been supplied by the software vendor and has NOT been verified.

Conceived in the mid 1970s by a renowned cardiac physician, and commercialized in 1980, PATS® has endured as both the industry pioneer and frontrunner in outcomes data management technology. It is one of very few applications to have lived through multiple generations of operating systems and programming languages, and proven its capacity to adopt continuous improvement and advancement.
The PATS® open framework allows healthcare organizations to customize the ACC-NCDR® ICD Registry with as many additional data fields as they desire. Users may also design, configure and maintain an unlimited number of other separate and discrete registries (such as AMI, cardiac rehabilitation, CHF, coronary thrombosis, electrophysiology, PCI, pacemaker, angioplasty and echocardiography). There are no restrictions, no pre-requisites.
PATS® offers the most robust and sophisticated feature set for mining, analysis and reporting of outcomes data, bar none. In a matter of seconds, with a few simple point-and-click maneuvers, PATS® can process tens of thousands of records, render the results of complex permutations, and produce customized output depicting virtually anything you desire. Data values displayed in tabular format are easily converted, with one click, to graphical format, and may be copied and pasted to a Microsoft Office or other software program for presentation.
In addition to cardiology, PATS® has been adopted enterprise-wide, across nearly every area of specialty. It is also considered a tool of the trade for Quality Management and Performance Improvement departments.
