Welcome to the TRANSLATE-ACS Study
The TRANSLATE-ACS Study is an observational, longitudinal study led by the American College of Cardiology Foundation (ACCF) and Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) that will examine post-discharge care patterns and treatment adherence, and evaluate the safety, effectiveness, and healthcare costs of antiplatelet therapy use among contemporary AMI patient populations treated with PCI.
The TRANSLATE-ACS Study allows hospitals participating in the NCDR® CathPCI Registry® to extend data collection into the outpatient setting — benefitting patient care, hospital QI and nationwide quality of care.
Designed to interface with the CathPCI Registry, the TRANSLATE-ACS Study provides a unique opportunity for hospitals to take part in a funded, cutting-edge study that will impact the quality of cardiovascular care delivered by simply building on existing data collection efforts.
Convenient Participation for CathPCI Registry Hospitals
- Because approximately half of the study data fields are already captured by the CathPCI Registry and will seamlessly transmit once a record is flagged for the study, CathPCI participation provides the ideal basis for the TRANSLATE-ACS Study
- Participation is simple and straightforward — requiring IRB approval, patient consent, entry of study variables beyond the CathPCI Registry data set and a few additional data harvests
- Reimbursement is provided for each patient enrolled
- All patient follow-up is conducted by the DCRI study team
Unique Benefits and Advantages
- Unlike a randomized clinical trial, the TRANSLATE-ACS Study is an observational study that looks at routine treatments and patient outcomes in the real-world setting
- Patient follow-up conducted by DCRI at various intervals up to 15 months post-discharge provides longitudinal data on outpatient treatment patterns and patient outcomes — a rare vantage point for hospitals
- Reports provided quarterly on 30-day re-hospitalization and medication usage rates can be used for in-hospital quality improvement efforts
All Hospitals are Eligible to Participate
Hospitals with many years of experience engaging in research, as well as those looking to gain experience will find an excellent opportunity in the TRANSLATE-ACS Study.
- For well-seasoned research sites, TRANSLATE-ASC Study is a flexible study with broad eligibility that allows for dual-enrollment of patient populations
- Hospitals looking to gain experience will benefit from the DCRI study team’s hands-on approach to providing research education and guidance
- Research metrics obtained through participation in this study can be useful as evidence of a hospital or study team’s ability to effectively participate in research, opening doors for future projects
Study Timeline and Expected Patient Volume
- The study will enroll patients through November 2012
- The number of patients each site will enroll varies based on AMI patient volume, but on average, each site can expect to enroll around 60 patients.
